reading
I.  BOOK REPORT #2 - review terms/requirements
- Think back on Monday & list "types" of images used
- Use EMC glossary as a resource to define or determine
    literary elements of a story
* students to write check list in Time Trackers

** PLEASE NOTE:  Book Report #2 is, essentially, a "book talk."  Just describe the story, including your thoughts, opinions, comments, etc. as you do.  However, what complicates the story for students is that they are required to use very simple, VERY quickly drafted images/icons (no people and not complex drawings) that represent the story's literary elements -- objects or images that show student can visualize setting, internal conflict, external conflict, the "hook," characterization, key plot points, the climax, theme, values, and resolution.  The images require that students "think" about the story and what the different aspects of the story are.  They will sit in groups on Friday (the day after the images are due) and discuss and explain their books.

reading/language arts
II.  OUTSIDERS - ABC BREAKDOWN
- review chapters 1-5 creating an ABC word list with descriptions
- one word and brief explanation for every letter of the alphabet
- use the book for reference
- try to keep in mind the images that will be required for your book talks
* this is an activity that ties into the book talks

III.  OUTSIDERS - Chpt 5 "The Country"
- Quick Write: Stream of Thought, what's on YOUR mind?  Ruminations
- compare to first person narrative of Ponyboy's story from his view, his mind
- "Popcorn" read

- Read end of Chapter 4, start of Chapter 5
- Discuss, comment as we go
