I. CASTLE PROJECT - review
-- materials in the back of the class
- donated by teachers


II. CASTLE - reading pages
-"Garrisons" & "Building"
- SKIM & SCAN for significant words (box)
- Underline key words of definitions/imp. details
* create a bullet fact list of 25-35 facts from text
* no sentences/focus on short/key word notes


III. CONCRETE POEMS - CASTLES
- using 8.5x14 paper, create Concrete Castle Word Poems
- using nothing but castle-related words, "draw" a castle


IV. CORNELL NOTES - castles
- overview of castles from Fall of Rome
- to need for protection against marauders
- to William the Conqueror's use of castles to dominate England
- to early castles like Motte & Bailey to more complex stone castles
