- FRAME activity (main ideas & supporting details)
using encyclopedia article

__ Complete Frame (two sentences, basically)
Watch/read/listen to news or ask adults "Why do we celebrate MLK Day?"
What's so important about what he did?

__ Complete last two columns of Frame (not homework - extra credit)

__ Rewrite excerpt of "I have a dream" speech, neatly, legibly
(use encyclopedia article)

__ Redesign excerpt of "I have a dream" into a artistic, colorful word poster (using magazine ads or posters from school as examples)

__ Find difficult/challenging words in text of "I have a dream" speech and create flash cards WITH illustration

__ Watch "I have a dream" speech on youtube and write a one-page summary/journal of what you felt, noticed, thought as you watched.

__ Go online and search for an analysis or study of Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I have a dream" speech and rewrite/summarize what experts say he meant, how he used language, where he took ideas from, etc.
